Dance

Violet just had her big dance recital.  Our current studio is much bigger and the productions are much more elaborate.  Violet loved her bird costume (they danced to Rio) and even more than that loved wearing make up.  She's quite the girly girl.  They did two performance and she said she loved it.

They had been practicing the dance for nearly 4 months but every time they performed it, it was like they were doing it for the first time.  There was an older "bird" that led the routine and they could follow.

Oops, she sat up early.  What next she wonders?

At one point Violet got downstage of the girl that was leading the dance.  I knew this was a bad sign because she didn't actually know the dance at all.

Downstage from the dancer, looking worried.

Not looking too thrilled.

Done until next year!

Father's Day

On Father's Day we went to the beach in Dana Point with some friends.  There are a ton of those little crabs everywhere so the kids had a blast.

Time to go home:

Activities

Violet is learning a whole bunch of new sports and activities.  It's exciting to watch.

gymnastics

Painting

skating

Baking

Here she is with a blanket made by her great grandmother.

And just for fun:

Mother's Day

Violet's classroom had a really elaborate Mother's Day celebration.  They had prepared songs, dances, and artwork.  Everything that makes a mom's heart melt.  I just barely managed to escape work to get there.  They had an elaborate table set up.

They sang songs such as you are my sunshine:

Did a dance or two.

A card for mom

I wasn't too proud that my daughter loves me because I get her whatever she wants...

I was so glad that I made it there from work.  All of us moms ate it up.

Photo catch up

Dance recital picture day.  None of the kids know the dance but they love their costumes.

Fun with friends at the Spectrum:

Eating ice cream.  She wore this rainbow headband every day for over three weeks and then inexplicably stopped suddenly.

Being a big girl at the dentist:

First pedicure at the salon.  Note the kitty cat chair.

Bubbles

Violet recently went with Eric to the Science Discovery Museum for a special exhibit on bubbles.  I was at work that day, but Eric talked it up so much that I had to see it for myself.  Lucky Violet got to go twice.

After waiting in line for an hour, she got to walk around in a plastic bubble.  Parents could do it too, but being encased in a plastic bag in the heat while running in circles didn't appeal to me.

Faceplant!

Faceplant again!

After that it was time to go to the bubble show.  The presenter literally travels the world performing his bubble show.  It seems like a pretty awesome job.  The finale involved lots and lots of bubbles.

Gymnastics

Violet is currently in gymnastics.  She's gotten kicked out twice for not listening to the coach, but she is finally getting the hang of things.

Cartwheel

She went to a day camp there one day for spring break and the older kids taught her how to do a flip.
