Pretend City

Violet went to Pretend City this morning.  It's a really neat children's museum which is set up like a city.  She ran all around for about an hour before she crashed.

Apparently strawberries grow on trees.

It's hard to eat sand with a binky in.

Climbing stuff.

If you live in southern California and have small children, I strongly recommend a visit.

Although it makes me laugh that the kids pretend to work (i.e. in a grocery store, at a construction yard, etc).  They can even do a time stamp for their "work".  Hey kids, I have a secret for you...Work is only fun when it's pretend.

Violet went for a walk recently with her friend Kaleo.  Unfortunately Kaleo is moving to New Mexico, so it was their last walk together.

On the developmental front, Violet weighed 18 pounds, 9 ounces at her year appointment (up from 6 pounds 1 ounce at birth).  She is 29.75 inches long (up from 19 inches at birth).  She tried eel today and liked it.  And yesterday she started to say her fifth word, "kitty".  Two days ago the cats were called "doggy" and now they are kitties.  Okay, it doesn't sound much like the word kitty--but you can hear the hard K and something close to "itty".  It counts.  So her words are: Daddy, doggy, hi, uh oh, and kitty.  No "mommy" yet, but I'm patient.  Sort of.

  1. I think "uh oh" should count as 2 words!

    1. Nah, I don't think so. Especially because I'm not even sure she knows what it means!
